Time goes on

Oh yes it passes fast. My second son, Baptiste, was born almost two months ago (Oct 07).

Almost two.

Two years since I started that blog.
Two articles per year (well, almost...).
Almost two children (forecast: October).

Web server migration

I was fed up of the big bills: arsys.fr as registrar, plus no-ip.com for dyn-IP management, plus a 24/7 home server (meaning a big electricity bill)...

I changed it all. Starting today OVH is my registrar and web host. I just uploaded my old site so everything should be fairly transparent.

Tonight my personal computer will sleep in peace. And I can close the http port. Cool.

For unto us a child is born

Maxime, our child, is born Wednesday 18th 2006 at 21:55. Quite a long day: I opened my eyes at 2 in the morning when Virginie said to me: "time to go!"

3.890 kg - 54 cm: they say his is big. I'd say he's great !!

I'm happy, I'm proud, I- well, I have no words.

- And his name shall be called: Wonderful!

Why "Destination Blog"?

That title is a reference to a book I really love: Franck Herbert's
Destination Void.

Today is the day Frédéric died last year.

I felt it then: if I were to write my memories August 9th 2005 would
be the final day of the first volume. Now I know I was right. Five
days later my girlfriend asked me, well, to be her boyfriend, and
now we live in our home with our four cats and are waiting for our
first child.

Life goes on.

Almost a year already.

My brother, Frédéric, died on August 9, 2005, squashed my a motorbike driving too fast. It's almost a year, tomorrow we go to an aniversary mass.

The weather is sad, that fits well.

He was writing. The first book of his series of novels will be out next year. Let that be a testimony of what he could achieve.

He was also an English teacher.

We all miss him.

News (Eiffel and others)

... Or what could become my standard blog title.

Weather's not pretty here. It was too hot the previous days, it could not last. That's a pitty because my girlfriend and I wanted to go to the swimming pool tomorrow. It would have done her some good (she is pregnant). Oh, well.

Starting from today I belong to the TeamEiffel blog. I can rant there too ;-)

ESE is going on quite well. Some tools will be interesting. I'm starting the one that will build distributed applications. The proof of concept begins to work so I can start the tool that will generate the classes and call the SmartEiffel tools.
I know, some libs and tools are not finished; but there are in a good starting shape, I hope others will join soon! (I don't dream too much, I know that people like having working things without working too hard- even in the FLOSS world)

World domination is going on as planned.
